Hooting and Howling Mini Fest

Back in June Hooting and Howling took over some old railway arches over in Waterloo. The music was great, the cakes were lovely and we all got a good book to take home!

Hatstands, Hyperpotamus and a mini festival all in one week....

Hello!

So, it's all been a bit quiet at Hooting and Howling for the last couple of months, but we had good reason... the brilliant 10 Gales has sadly had to close down. Hopfully it'll be up and running again soon, but for now Hooting and Howling is a little bit homeless! But, we have found homes for two very exciting events!

Brixton Windmill | 8 June | 8pm | £5
Hooting and Howling presents Blind Boy Butler, Black Jack Barnet and Hyperpotamus

What a brilliant line-up! Black Jack Barnet and Blind Boy Butler, both members of Dr Butler's Hatstand Medicine Band, will bring back the olden days with folk, blues and soul. expect washboard, banjos and jews harps!

Then we've got a modern one man band - Hyperpotamus who will not only stand on stage alone and sound like a full choir, but word has it he's also got some killer dance moves! Without doubt one of the best looping artist you'll ever see!

All of this will be taking place at Brixton Windmill, it's just £5 on the door and we'll be there from 8pm!

The Lone Taxidermist....

Back in the day I was in a band called The Bottomfeeders, there was lots of glitter, lots of pork pies and we liked to sing about skinny white boys, horses and fly trouble. We had a good few years but things changed and we parted ways.

The Bottomfeeders was the brain child of Natalie Sharp, one of the most creative people I (and most other people) have ever met. She now resides in London Town and has gone solo. Under the name The Lone Taxidermist and with help from an excellent nob twiddler (Phil from Tunng) and a beating tribal goddess (Lindt Morris) she's been making a noise singing about pies, bad leggings, roadkill and intoxicating men. Her live shows have all the glitter, taxidermy, tassels, lady-goth you could wish for, with the addition of some great make-up art (Natalie's day job is a face and body painter).

After a long wait The Lone Taxidermist's new video Bijoux Boy is finally ready for the world to see. And see it you must (just click on the link)!

The Lone Taxidermist will be performing at the Hooting and Howling minifest on 12 June 2011. It's a free event and we can guarantee you'll be impressed!

If you can't wait till June for a music fix, get yourself down to Temesis Dock on Wednesday the 13 April for an evening of live music from Hyperpotamus and Messner.

Changes are afoot... to the Sea!

Our beloved 10 Gales are having a few issue at the moment, so Hooting and Howling is going on holiday. We're going to be travelling far and wide, to the sea and back, in search is windmills and artists....

The new home for our next gig is:

Wednesday 13 April | 8pm | £5 on the Door
Temesis Dock -
Albert Embankment, between Vauxhall and Lambeth Bridge, London, SE1 7TP
I love this venue, not only is it pretty, off the tourist track whilst still being in central london, but it's a boat! and not one of those posh river boats, but  a proper Dutch boat with wonky doors and wooden floors! So, Messner and Hyperpotamus will be serenading you below deck.

As always the music will be brilliant, the atmosphere will be lovely, and i can promise you'll love the venue!

See you there.

Wednesday 11 April | 8pm | £5 on the door
Hooting and Howling presents and evening of science and blues, come and be educated with songs about science and some foot stomping blues - Jonny Berliner and Old Ghosts
