***GIG CANCELLED*** Next gig and a few things to look out for...

***THIS MONTHS GIG HAS BEEN CANCELLED. We hope to book Old Ghosts and Jamie Harrison for a gig in the next couple of months***

So, we're very exctied about the next Hooting and Howling gig this Wednesday. We've got two great musicians booked...

Wednesday 9 March | 8pm | £5 on the door
Old Ghosts and Jamie Harrison

Old Ghosts
Old Ghosts play gutsy bluesy folk, the kind of music that should be enjoyed with a glass of wine, stamping feet and puts the world to rights. ‘Definitely worth sticking with Old Ghosts’, that’s what BBC Introducing say!
Recordings and more info available at

Jamie Harrison
One or Red Deer Club's finest! In his own words 'Jamie Harrison sings about the struck world and plays death-rattle guitar rags for mothers on the stairs'. With great stories, amazing guitar playing and a good dash of humour, you're going to be tapping your toes and smiling!

Also, I’ve seen/heard a few interesting things recently that I think are well worth a visit/listen. So if your Monday morning is already a bit quiet and you fancy something to entertain you, have a look at...

Wilton's Music Hall: Definitely one of London's best venues. Set in a music hall from the1850s the venue offers free live music nights every Monday in the Mahogany Bar (Columbus Giant will be there on the 21 March).  The main hall plays host to corporate events and some really amazing live music events (Wild Beasts will be there in May, i think it's sold out now, but it's well worth hunting down some tickets).

PJ Harvey: I can not stop listening to her new album, it's really bloody amazing! Have a listen (it's on spotify for those short of pennies or like to try before they buy!).

The Lone Tasxidermists Video Blog: Our good friend and regular attendee of the Hooting and Howling events has started a video project where (in her own words) she presents 'every day a new video every video one minute every minute is original footage an idea brought to you by BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson the idea executed by The Lone Taxidermist the aim to is to create a community of video bloggers that inspire, entertain and inform the viewer of the stream of consciousness. With no preparation. Just pure video vomiting.' Full of interesting insights and words, this blog is worth a visit.

Efpi Records and HAQ: I saw HAQ last week and can say their new album is very good! They combine great tunes with free improvisation, meaning you're never quite sure what you're going to get! Efpi Records is also a great label promoting jazz from Manchester based musicians.

So, that's about it for Monday morning distractions. See you on Wednesday!
